Katie In The Hospital

Just a note to let everyone know that Katie was admitted to the hospital yesterday because of her fainting spells. She fainted yesterday and when she came to she was seeing double and talking thick tongued like she was drunk. A neurologist looked at her in the ER and said he was going to admit her. So, she is at St. Vincent's East in Birmingham. She is in room 463. Her room number is 205-838-6463. Tonya is there with her right now and I'm on my way to work. Tonya's cell is 256-613-3486 if no one can be reached in the room. The nurses tell us that Katie is about to be put through the wringer on tests for today so the room may be empty for most of it.

Baby James Update

Greetings to all,

This is a James update, from his Mother Erin.

Gram,

You and everyone supporting and uplifting us in prayer, in love, and in your wonderful messages, have done more for our little family (and thus for James) than you all could ever imagine. Please forward this along.

All of your and our prayers are being heard. We feel that James hopefully made a final turn for the better after Wednesday night. Due to his incremental gains and stability they finally let us bring him home for the weekend for good (he began sitting up again with help after Wednesday, and by the time we brought him home he was sitting without assistance!). He still does not walk or crawl yet, but we feel he is showing signs of potential for this more every day (today he crawled backwards and also pulled himself up several times from sit to stand aside a couch) and we believe with great hope that it is just a matter of time and hard work. We feel our James' essence is intact and that he is very glad to be at home, especially with Jackson and Clara. We are trying to get our feet on the ground here, with all that lays ahead, and we are so appreciative of all your support and prayer. James will continue to have blood work done every 3-4 days for several months, lots of rehabilitative therapies to make sure he is on track to recovery, and continual follow up with the specialists who diagnosed and treated him at Children's. Praise God for leading us to them in time!

We are so sorry to have not been able to respond to so many wonderful ways everyone has reached out until now (life was quite unbelievably hectic in the hospital), so we hope to be reconnecting over time here.

While James and I were in the hospital, Steve enlisted pest and environmental management to evaluate our property in light of what's happened--they found nothing, but we had a thorough cleaning done anyway.

We are thankful for all of you and the prayer warriors that you are! We will keep you posted. There are going to be ups and downs as we attempt to digest all of this and move forward, but we believe in James and what a strong, sweet, and able little guy he is.

Love,
Erin, Steve, Jackson, Clara and James
