PRAISE REPORT!
From Mamie’s sister Toni:
Brian and I want to thank you all for your prayers for both Dad and us. God has obviously been listening and has responded in ways that only He could. We have watched as He provided and cleared the path for us:
He changed Dad’s attitude from belligerent and paranoid to kind and trusting. We have seen more smiles and gotten more thanks from him in the last two weeks than in a lifetime.
He provided a Dr that was willing to take on the Medicare bureaucracy and kept Dad in the hospital for 7 full days vs the 3 that they wanted. This allowed him to get his medications stabilized.
He provided a room for him at Samarkand when there was no room. And Medicare and his insurance will pay the full cost for up to 100 days.
We didn’t know how we were going to get him to accept being moved into Samarkand. He has been resisting a move and help of any kind for the past six years. We expected him to question where he was going and why! but his transition was smooth- he never questioned a thing. The only thing that he did ask was that we not forget where he was!
And if that wasn’t enough, he provided an added bonus, our very own dear friend, Sheila, to be eyes and ears for us when we aren’t there as she is their head of Social Services.
By moving him from Santa Maria to Santa Barbara, He provided more family members to visit him; besides us, there is another daughter, two granddaughters, a grandson , 3 great grandchildren and two sisters. Lots of family!
We don’t know what the next step for Dad will be. But we know- we really do know- that God does. And we are continuing to trust in Him and marvel at the miracles that He has done so far.
